Dyson and Gtech have been in the market as reliable vacuum cleaners since a long time. They both have been proved to be really authentic but when such problems arise, it is difficult for customers to find out the best vacuum cleaner for your house. Cordless vacuum cleaners are overtaking the corded ones. A tough competition can be seen among the cordless cleaners. To make things easier for you, we bring to you a comparison between Dyson and Gtech vacuum cleaners and then you can go ahead with the most promising one for you.
Dyson V8 animal vacuum cleaner is an upright, cordless vacuum cleaner. It is an upgraded version of DC16 model of Dyson. Improvements in the old model have created the V8 model. It comes in vibrant colors of blue and silver.
Gtech AirRam MK2 is a portable cleaner. It was particularly designed for home cleaning. Older models of Gtech have formed this MK2 one with advanced features, making the task of cleaning simpler than before. However, it does not overpower the conventional vacuum cleaners.
Battery and running time
Since both the vacuum cleaners are cordless, they run on batteries. The Dyson V8 animal cleaner is powered by a new Nickel Aluminum Cobalt battery. This allows the machine to run for 40 minutes continuously with maximum suction. On the other hand, with motorized tools, you can get 25 minutes of powerful suction continuously but after that, the machine will have to be stopped so that it can cool down.
The Gtech AirRam MK2 runs on 22V lithium-ion battery. It has a good run-time of 40 minutes non-stop. In this case, the MK2 cleaner works better because using tools does not reduce the working time. In addition, Gtech model takes only 4 hours to charge fully whereas the Dyson model takes 5.5 hours.
Design and Construction
Dyson V8 is made up of durable material and comes in a silver blue color. It is an upright vacuum cleaner but can be changed into a handheld one easily. The handheld cleaner is portable and can be used to vacuum stairs, curtains, desks, difficult areas as well as cars. It is light in weight as well. It weighs only 2.62 kg. Here, the motor is placed around the trigger. All the controls are present around the handle. The trigger must be pressed and held when one is using the machine. This allows extension of the battery life of the machine.
The AirRam MK2 on the other hand has a detachable handle due to which storage becomes easy. It weighs more than the Dyson V8. Its weight is 3.5 kg. This is a little heavier for cordless vacuum cleaner. However, the steering and controls of MK2 are more efficient to use. The motor is placed on the floor head because of which one can easily clean under the sofas, or under furniture. The Dyson model has a better design than the Gtech one however the Gtech model succeeds in cleaning performance.
Suction Power and Performance
Dyson has a better motor which provides a good suction. Even in standard mode, it has a good suction which can pick up all kinds of trash. It is powered by Digital Dyson motor V8. Because of the flat cleaning head, dust is picked up directly from underneath the sofa and furniture. It consists of deeper fibers which allow cleaning process become effortless. The V8 model has soft roller head made of nylon and carbon fiber bristles which allows deep cleaning. It comes with effective sealing which doesn’t allow the dust to exit. Hard wood floors can be effectively cleaned with such brush. But the maximum power mode reduces the running time for cleaning sessions.
The MK2 model has a strong brush-bar which moves forward to pick up dust from floors. AirRam MK2 is good for cleaning floors but not carpets. It doesn’t have as effective tools to pick up dust from a carpet as Dyson V8. Pet hair or human hair from carpet is not sucked in from Gtech cleaner. It has a good hold on cleaning trash from the edges of floors or in between cracks because it has a powerful tool for the same. The inclusion of side-suction with the machine makes it a really good tool for cleaning the edges. With V8, you can clean the edges after changing the upright vacuum cleaner into a handheld portable vac. The MK2 model of Gtech can clean perfectly on the floor but since it does not have an extended hose and cannot be converted into handheld, the Dyson model is efficient for picking up dust from the curtains, on furniture, sofas, or on stairs. In suction power and cleaning performance, the Dyson V8 model is more efficient. In addition, V8 can easily clean the pet hair stuck in the carpets or on the stairs with the help of a mini motorized tool which comes along with the machine. The Dyson model wins here as well.
Trash Disposal and Filtration
Gtech’s AirRam MK2 has a trash bin of 0.8 liters which is more than Dyson’s 0.54 liters’ bin. Here, both the machines use ‘no touch’ system of emptying the trash bin. The internal cylinder forces out the trash contents and you do not have to rely on gravity or touch the dirt. Because in the previous model of Dyson V6 the dirt used to stick to the insides of the machine, this is an improvement on the trash disposal. For the Gtech MK2 model, a slider forces out the dust into your dustbin. Consequently, there has been a tie among both the models when it comes to trash disposal.
When it comes to filtration, both the machines have a pretty decent system of filtration. The Dyson model has a whole machine filtration. It consists of a dual radial cyclone suction which entraps dirt and dust and prevents their escape. The Gtech MK2 model is a bagless machine. Its trash bin is situated right inside the floor head. Thus, all the dirt is directed towards the filter. Their escape is impossible.
Tools and Accessories
Gtech AirRam MK2 does not come with any accessories. It only has a vacuuming machine, a battery charger, and upper and lower handles of the machine. But you can buy additional accessories like a multi-tool while keeping in mind that it would add to the cost. However, on the other hand, the Dyson V8 machine consists of a direct drive cleaner head, a mini motorized tool, a rigid crevice tool, a docking station and a combination tool. The soft brush and the direct driver cleaner head are used to clean soft and hard surfaces accordingly. A mini motorized tool is effective in cleaning pet hair from stairs and from upholstery. The crevice tool and combination tools can be used for cleaning in difficult areas as per the awkwardness of the region.
The prices of both the machines vary a lot. Gtech AirRam MK2 comes in a market price of 120 Euros whereas Dyson V8 costs around 500 Euros. Dyson is more expensive than the Gtech model.
To conclude this comparison between two great vacs, we can say that V8 is lighter in weight and attractive in design. Both the vacuum cleaners have a good command over cleaning floors but AirRam lacks in clearing pet dander. V8, on the other hand, has a stronger suction for it and can work on hard and soft surfaces equally efficiently. MK2 does have a better battery power and works well with cleaning edges but lacks accessories. V8 has enough accessories to clean the entire house with different kinds of attachments. Both the machines have decent filtration and trash disposal systems. Therefore, V8 is a better vacuum than MK2 but it is expensive. If one can afford Dyson’s V8 model vacuum cleaner, then he may get it without hesitance.
